What the clients wanted:

The deck on this home had reached the end of its life, and the homeowners wanted more than a replacement. They hoped to expand the outdoor living space for their dining area, gain privacy outside their bedroom, and create a place where they could spend hours enjoying their view of Grizzly Peak.

How we built it:

We rebuilt and enlarged the deck, creating room for both dining and lounging. At the bedroom end, we built a privacy wall to shield the area off of the bedroom while keeping the rest of the deck open. Cable railing runs the length of the deck, so the view stays wide open, both out to the mountains and down to the garden below.

Underneath, the old structure had a post between each bay of the two-car garage, which made parking really tight. We eliminated the post by hanging a large beam spanning the full width of the garage, opening up the space below.

The result:

A spacious, private outdoor room built for long evenings and great views.
